The Ballenas Secondary School boys team edged its girls counterparts in a tiebreaker to win the Experienced division of the Panago Pizza Junior Bonspiel Saturday at Parksville Curling Club.
Both teams posted 3-0 records in the single-day, round-robin format, but did not play head-to-head. The Ballenas boys squad of skip Devin O’Rourke, Connor Litton, Mackenzie Bonnar and Christian Klein-Beekman, won one more end than the girls team of skip Jada Zimmerman, Lauren Onushko, Amanda Litton, Teya Vega and Michaela Morrill.
The 18-team bonspiel drew teams from Duncan, Nanaimo, Comox Valley, Campbell River, Qualicum and Parksville for competition in both Experienced (three years or more) and Novice (less than three years experience) classifications.
