The 100 Mile House Special Olympics Local 8 has some fundraising ahead of them this season to help pay for program expenses and tournament travel.

Their newest effort is a raffle with three prizes that include a first prize limited edition print by artist John Stone, titled “Timber Wolf Alert.” It was the Ducks Unlimited sponsor print in 1993 and Carol Harris, a former longtime resident of 108 Mile, has donated it.

Second prize is a handcrafted scroll clock made and donated by Jerry and Peggy Chenier of 108 Mile, and third prize is a women’s fleece jacket made and donated by Special Olympics coach Pat Oldershaw of 108 Mile.

Tickets are $2 each and will be available from team members on Nov. 11, 19, 26 and Dec. 3, 6 and 9 at Safeway in the Cariboo Mall.

The prize draw will be held Dec. 13 at The Bowling Alley.

Currently, the bowling team is active and practising for tournaments, which will be held next spring in Prince George and Quesnel.
