Local squads medal in tourney

Two of the three Oceanside entries reached the medal round of the 2016 Peewee Breakaway hockey tournament Monday.

Two of the three Oceanside entries reached the medal round of the 2016 Peewee Breakaway hockey tournament Monday and came away with silver and bronze.

The Oceanside Warriors and the Campbell River Bears played to a tense, 4-4 draw through regulation in the gold-medal final, with Campbell River eventually taking the winner’s trophy in a shootout.

The Oceanside Chiefs finished second in their pool in the 12-team tournament and reached the third-place final, where they edged the Victoria Ice Hawks C2 squad, 4-3.
