Vancouver Island’s BC Summer Games U17 girls beach volleyball team was busy getting in some reps under a hot summer sun down at Parksville Community Park this week, and a couple of locals were in their element.

Making the Zone 6 team are Parksville standouts Jenna Pearce and Alex Cloutier.

“It’s going good,” Jenna surmised easily on the sand courts when The News stopped by.

“It’s been a lot of hard work, a lot of training of late, but we’re enjoying it,” Cloutier added with a smile. Both girls are heading into their senior year at Ballenas Secondary School.

This provinces best young athletes will converge on Surrey, July 19-22 for the 2012 BC Summer Games.
