Members of the Oceanside Track and Field Club are training for the upcoming Island High School Championships this week in Victoria.
The event runs Wednesday and Thursday (May 14-15) and will see a large contingent of athletes from the Oceanside Track and Field Club, representing their respective schools.
Representing Ballenas Secondary will be Grade 9 students Dalton Austin, Simon Morrison, Noah Elliott and Jordan Kilner (Grade 11).
Austin will be competing in the discus and hammer throw, Morrison in the 100m, 200m and 300m hurdles. Elliott will compete in the discus and 400m and Kilner in the hammer throw.
For Kwalikum Secondary, Tyler Lucente (Grade 10), Jacob Watson (Grade 10), Felix Richter (Grade 10), Daniel Doukakis (Grade 10) and Kyra Blyt (Grade 9) will all be in action as well.
Lucente will compete in the 400m event, Watson in 300m hurdles and the 400m, Richter in the 100m, 200m and 100m hurdles, Doukakis in the 100m and high jump and Kyra Blyt in the 100m, 200m and discus.
