It was a sea of pink with over 50 ladies “golfing fore the cure” during ladies night at Longlands Golf Course. Lynda Keele was voted “Pinkest Lady” with attire second to none, adorned in pink in support of breast cancer from head to toe, accessories and all.

Lynn Osterman of the CVSGA and “Marty the Mascot” led a pack of ladies through nine holes of golf each with the opportunity to win a $5,000 hole-in-one sponsored by Investors Group Financial.

“The overall evening was full of Pink Spirit,” said Mandy Baker of Investors Group. “Close to $500 was raised throughout the evening to support breast cancer and many stories were shared about how each of us are touched by the disease through friends, family or neighbours.”

Near a patch of “rough” each lady swung their pitching wedge aiming at marshmallows for prizes. It proved not to be a challenge for six contestants, but it was Anne Farren and Heather Dean who walked away with prizes. Glayne, Donna, Bev and Jan who shot-gunned hole #2 rounded out their evening as the Molson 6/7 team champions.

Susan Mathie is supporting a new, white, leather Taylormade bag  which was drawn from all ladies who were out having fun and sharing a common love for the game of golf and the battle against cancer. Lorrain Gargan and Jan Harding each came out closest to the pin on the front and back nine to win KP prizes.

The Canadian Cancer Society, Canada’s longest standing cancer charity, has been making a difference in the lives of Canadians since 1938. In 2011 an estimated 23,400 women were diagnosed with breast cancer in British Columbia and 5,100 died of it. “As we face this harsh reality, there is hope,” Baker said.

“A special thank you to each and every lady who Golfed Fore the Cure.  With your support, the fight against cancer continues to make difference.”
