The Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics team from Okanagan Gymnastics Centre travelled to Kamloops for another competition last weekend with the women’s Provincial 2 athletes competing to earn a spot on the zone 2 (Thompson-Okanagan) team that will compete at B.C. Championships in Prince George in April.
Jillian Beaudreau finished in first place all around in the Women’s Provincial 2 Argo (10 and under) category leading the zone team to BC Championships. Beaudreau also finished with a gold medal on vault and floor exercise, silver medal on bars, and a bronze medal on the balance beam.
Grace Akurienne finished second all around after winning the uneven bars, finishing second on balance beam, and third place on floor exercise. Akurienne won the Floor Choreography Award for her beautiful presentation and dance in her floor routine which was choreorgraphed by Heather Ivanitz.
Taylor Bowden and Kirsty Marshall also made the P2 Argo team.
Danica Graves finished in third all around in the Provincial 2 Tyro (11-12 year old) category after winning the floor exercise and finishing second on vault.
Madison Nethercote finished third all around in the Provincial 2 Novice (13-14 year old) category after earning silver medals for her performance on balance beam and floor exercise.
In the Provincial 1 Argo category, Kayleigh Nicolson took the top spot winning gold in the all around. She also earned first place on bars, second place on floor, and third place on vault.
Chelsea Ozechowski earned a gold medal for her performance on floor where she scored a 12.30 out of a possible 13.0
Dixie Cabel took home the silver medal on balance beam.
Kenedi Woodcox earned two bronze medals on bars and floor exercise.
Alexsandra Malchyk finished with a gold medal for her performance on balance beam and also earned the “Solid Beam Award.”
Okanagan Gymnastics Centre had four female athletes compete in the Level 1 Pre-Argo category, which is a developmental category for athletes born 2005 or 2006, with the same rules and judging as Level 1, however, the athletes receive a gold, silver, or bronze award for each event depending on their score.
Amanda Jaggard finished with gold on floor, silver on vault, bars and beam and earned silver all around.
Vienna Harwood finished with silver on all four women’s events and earned silver all around.
Samantha Pelletier finished with silver on vault and bars, and bronze on beam finishing with silver all around.
Naomi Schraeder finished with silver on vault, beam and floor, a bronze on bars, and silver all around.
In the Men’s division Luca Curcio finished with gold on all six events and as an all around.
Willis Plant finished with gold on five events and silver on the horizontal bar, finishing with gold in the all around.
Aaron Myshak-Davis finished with gold on five events and silver on the horizontal bar, finishing with gold in the all around.
Dylan Hehr earned gold on floor, pommel horse, rings, and vault and earned silver on parallel bars and horizontal bar. Hehr finished with gold all around.
Liam Ozechowski finished with gold on floor, rings, and parallel bars, and earned silver on pommel horse, vault, and horizontal bar, finishing with gold all around.
Jack Nyrose earned gold on floor and rings, silver on vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar, and bronze on pommel horse, finishing with silver all around.
Brady Clegg competed in the Level 2 category and finished with first place all around.
OGC’s Level 3-5 female athletes competed at the Kyle Shewfelt Gymnastics Festival in Calgary, Alberta.
Jenna Mick finished with a bronze medal on the balance beam in the Level 5 Tyro (11-12 year old) category.
Hannah Butcher finished with a bronze medal on the vault in the Level 5 Novice (13-14 year old) category.
Gabriela Beselt finished with a silver medal on the uneven bars in the Pre-Novice Aspire category.
