Christy Lovig turned in a world-class performance Monday at the Boston Marathon.
Competing in the elite category, the 40-year-old Kelowna lawyer completed the prestigious 42.2 km run in two hours 53 minutes 41 seconds.
The result was good enough for fifth in her age group (40-44) and placed her 47th among all women competing in the marathon.
An avid and experienced runner, Lovig has won several races in B.C. over the years, including the Okanagan College Half Marathon in 2016.
Among other Kelowna athletes competing in Boston, Diane Leonard was first in the women’s 70-74 age group with a time of 4:12:24.
