Houston Luckies tryouts are September 28 and 29.
Luckies Vice President Stephen Wiens says they hope to see some young local players hit the ice with the Luckies and tryout.
Luckies President Shane Brienen says they don’t know who will coach Luckies this year but a meeting is planned to decide on a coach next week.
The Luckies season will fire off with a string of home games, starting with a game against Smithers Steelheads Oct. 5, said Wiens.
After that they’ll play at home against Williams Lake, Lac La Hache and Prince Rupert.
The Central Interior Hockey League has dropped to eight teams this year, with no teams from Hazelton or Vanderhoof, Weins said.
Brienen says he thinks this will be a good year for the Luckies.
“In the last couple of years, Luckies have played well and kept games pretty tight, and I think this is the year they will step up,” he said.
