The Lumby Stars grounded the Langley Eagles 7-3 in the Monashee Atom Hockey Classic Atom final Sunday at Pat Duke Memorial.

Linden Catt (3+3), Tye Krause(3+2) and Ryder Quibell handled the Stars’ attack. Assists came from Ethan Keber, Peter Romailler, Mia Maltman and Zach Young. Stellar two-way play by d-men Romailler and Dominik Porteous and stingy goaltending by Parker Stadnyk were keys.

The Stars edged the Eagles 5-4 in a shootout earlier in round robin. Krause, with a deuce,  Maltman and Catt, on a beauty from Quibell, to tie the game, supplied the goals. Catt deked to record the shootout winner while Stadnyk stoned the Eagle snipers. Cameron Smithson and Keber were solid on the blueline.

The Stars, sponsored by Terry’s Automotive and Irly Building Center Lumby,  iced the Kelowna Capitals 10-4 in their opener. Catt (6+1), Krause (3+3) and Quibell provided snipes. Keber was marvellous in net.
