Mac Bros Basketball Camp is back

Popular camp returns to Comox Valley for its seventh year

Comox Valley youth basketball players will have the opportunity to dribble, drive and shoot their way to hoop dreams with the return of the Mac Bros Basketball Camp.

Mac Bros Basketball coaches Ryan and Scott Mackinnon are more than excited to come back and spend this fun-filled week (July 22-26) in the Valley. “ Ryan and I are thrilled with the opportunity to come back and put on this basketball camp,” commented Scott, who spent 2013 helping scout for a Philippine professional basketball team as well as starting his NCCP Level 2 coaching certification.

Ryan, who spent the year playing semi-professional in both Europe and Asia mentioned, “ The basketball community in the Valley is an extremely loyal and passionate one, we cannot wait to get back into the gym with our campers. Our goal is to not only help campers improve their skill set but also understand what a fun sport basketball is.”

This is the seventh year the camp has run in the Valley.

Comox Valley native and current Mount Royal University Cougar Noah Lewis is returning to the coaching staff after a very successful freshman campaign in Alberta and coach Rusty Mackinnon, who is now fluent in Mandarin, returns from his teaching stint in China with a new array of fun-filled activities and games.

New to the coaching crew this year is former Mac Bros Basketball Camp participant and highly touted McGill University recruit Jenning Leung and former UVic Vikes captain and assistant coach Cyril Indome. Indome brings a wealth of basketball knowledge that helped him become one of the top defenders and point guards in the country and is excited to become involved in Comox Valley basketball.

The camp will see the 6-9 year olds going from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Aspen Elementary, 10-13 year olds from 12:30 to 3 p.m. and the 14-17 year olds from 3:30 to 6 p.m., both at Mark Isfeld Secondary.
