The second annual Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Sports Expo is coming to the Pitt Meadows Arena Complex and Athletic Park on Aug. 19.
This year the expo will be an interactive experience, with exhibitors providing a hands-on showcase of their activities, allowing attendees to participate in the various sports and recreation opportunities offered in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
Exhibitors will have access to ice, dry floor, fields and courts to showcase their sport.
This year’s theme is Life Long Physical Literacy – Active for Life. Exhibitors will help promote “physical literacy” at their booths by showcasing the skills involved in their sport or recreational activity, for people of all ages and abilities.
According to Physical and Health Education Canada, “Individuals who are physically literate move with competence and confidence in a wide variety of physical activities in multiple environments that benefit the healthy development of the whole person. These skills enable individuals to make healthy, active choices that are both beneficial to and respectful of their whole self, others, and their environment.”
The Sports Expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and it will be followed with a free public skate.
There’s still space for potential exhibitors at the Sports Expo. Register before April 30 to get the early bird exhibitor discounted rate of $50 (partial proceeds go towards sport participation funding).
