Maple Ridge’s Keanna Mason is off to Hawaii this week where she will be competing at the 2012 Girls Junior America Cup at the Wailea Golf Resort Gold Course in Wailea, Maui.
The tournament got under way on Tuesday, and finishes up on Thursday in the 54-hole stroke play team competition, where three of four team member scores count for the overall team total on each day with the highest being discarded.
Mason is one of four female B.C. golfers between the ages of 14 and 17 selected to represent the provincial golf association at the tournament.
Joining Mason are West Vancouver’s Alix Kong, Victoria’s Naomi Ko and Grace Chua of White Rock. All four players have represented B.C. previously in international competitions, including the 2012 North Pacific Junior Girls’ matches.
Mason was fifth at the 2012 B.C. Junior Girls’ Championship last month, and helped guide Team B.C. to a repeat victory at the 2012 North Pacific Junior Girls’ Team Matches in May.
