Marathon volunteers needed for Oct. 11

With just a week until this year's Victoria Marathon, volunteers are still needed

With just a week until the 36th annual GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon, volunteers are still needed.

As of last week, the marathon – running through Oak Bay on Sunday, Oct. 11 – still required race day volunteers, plus individuals for the Race Expo and to assist with course set-up.

Over the entire event, some 1,600 volunteers help things run smoothly and efficiently.

“We are looking for teams of people, including students and individuals, to play a part of the event on race day. If sport or school teams are trying to fundraise, we encourage them to contact us,” says Cathy Noel, General Manager. “We couldn’t host this event without the incredible support of a volunteer crew of 1,600 strong.”

Volunteers receive a long-sleeved New Balance technical t-shirt, a two-week pass to GoodLife Fitness, and a volunteer appreciation evening with the Western Hockey League team, the Victoria Royals.

“We have partnered with our title sponsor GoodLife Fitness and the Victoria Royals to enable volunteers see the Royals on Friday, Oct. 16. It’s a way of saying thank you to our dedicated volunteers,” Noel adds.
