Marine Harvest Upper Island Riptide U15 Boys are having a smashing soccer season. Riptide holds a nine-point lead in the standings with a 7-1 record.
On Sunday Nov. 6, Riptide met their rivals, the Nanaimo Storm, in Ladysmith and played an outstanding match, bringing home a 5-1 win. Within the first five minutes, Marine Harvest set the pace with Josh Rolland placing a superb cross volley into the net.
Some quick, fancy passing in front of the Storm’s net created the second goal by Alonso Cortez. Storm retaliated with one goal before the end of the 1st half.
Going into the second half, the Riptide boys hammered it home scoring another three goals, two by Cortez and the final by Jakob Tortorelli. Spencer Fleming had a terrific game and made three of the direct assists.
This weekend the U15 Riptide boys have a doubleheader and will be playing at home on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Comox Valley Turf at 2 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 13 they will also be at home, either in Comox or Campbell River.
