The Fulton Maroons studied American football in Washington State last weekend.

Mike Scheller’s crew lost 56-7 to the Omak Pioneers Friday night and then headed to Pullman Saturday to watch the Washington Cougars upended the Wyoming Cowboys 31-14 in Pacific-12 Conference play.

“Omak is simply a better and much more experienced football team,” said Scheller. “They scored running, passing, returning and throwing the ball. They have three kids with exceptional speed that got past us multiple times. We need to hustle more on defence and special teams.”

QB Ike Olson ran in a six-yard score for Fulton, who got 12 carries and 93 yards from Caden Doyle. Jeff Han rang up 31 yards on five touches, while Colton Annis ran eight times for 28 yards. Doyle had two catches for 36 yards.

Ethan Eisenhauer recorded six tackles, Doyle four and Logan Higgs three. Fulton hosts Salmon Arm Golds (6 p.m.) Friday at the new Greater Vernon Athletic Park.
