The Fulton Maroons grounded the Kalamalka Lakers 3-0 in North Zone Senior Girls Soccer League play Tuesday at Marshall Field #5.

Eric Ladner’s crew went undefeated for the title while outscoring their opponents 22-0.

Striker Cayleigh Graham opened the scoring midway through the first half, drifting by several Kal defenders before unleashing a powerful strike finding the far post netting.

The second goal came in the second half after several midfield battles where Morgan Binns and Aryanna Jacura won the ball followed by a long strike by Jacura finding the bottom corner.

Fulton completed their offence later in the half on a family affair.  Elder sister, Shelby Hughes, was in a giving mood setting up her sister, Abby, with a precision pass resulting in a corker goal by Abby.

The Fulton back line was particulary strong allowing only four chances.

“Lee Richardson and Madison Catt did most of the clean-up, leaving our goalkeepers to get some much needed catching practice,” said Ladner.

The shutout was shared by Chayse Newman and Brittany Skrenek.

The Maroons opened the North Zone playoffs  Thursday against Pleasant Valley Saints.

In junior girls play, Fulton and the Salmon Arm Jewels ran to a 2-2 draw Wednesday at Marshall Field.

Emma Binns buried a 22-yard rocket direct kick, into the wind, as Fulton took the early lead.

Kim Hauptman made it 2-0 Maroons in the 28th minute on a give and go.

Shuswap produced both their goals in the second half with Fulton down to one sub.

Keeper Zandrea Fernstrom, a newcomer from Williams Lake, made some spectacular saves for Fulton.

Grade 9s Mackenzie Morin, Cassidy Breukreutz and Annie Morrison anchored the Fulton back line.

The Maroons have two ties and a loss with two weeks left in the regular season.

The VSS Panthers and Seaton Sonics share first place in the North Zone. Playoffs start Monday, May 11.
