Saylor Martian ran miles and scored twice as the Red Bulls bounced Team White 3-0 in U14/15 girls youth soccer action.

Saylor Martian ran miles and scored twice as the Red Bulls bounced Team White 3-0 in U14/15 girls youth soccer action Saturday morning at Marshall Field.

The Bulls, who played very hard with only one sub, got a single from Brianna Falk.

Sarah Mugridge and Kaitlyn Morgan were solid in net, shutting down the White Team on numerous attempts, while Sam Myers, Clare Schmidt and Katya Viskari were standouts on the Bulls’ defence.

The Bulls gave a big “shout out” to Blaine Martian for taking over the coaching duties.

In U14/15 boys play Saturday, Team Red overcame a 4-1 half-time deficit and brushed back the White Knights 5-4.

David Heng and Riley Davis each scored twice, while Gavin Huggins added a single for the Reds, who took advantage of the wind in the final half. Speedy winger Riley Bos ignited several scoring chances.

Sam Frisby, with a deuce, Andre Soto Alvarez, with a 35-yard free kick, and Jaden Steinke replied for the Knights.

Striker Brendan Horsfield was keeper in the first half, while central defender Gavin Donald took a turn in the second, with both regular keepers absent. Defenders Josh Chirkoff and Noah Tiessen were stellar.
