Mary Ann Hayward is already a Canadian Hall of Famer on the women’s golf scene.
The Aurora, Ont. native cemented her legacy a little bit more Thursday afternoon as she collected her third Royale Cup Canadian Senior Women’s Championships in four years at the Spallumcheen Golf & Country Club.
Hayward, who also won titles in 2010 and ‘11, followed up a steady 4-over-par 75 on her opening round Monday with a scorching 4-under 67 Tuesday. Her Round 2 scorecard included seven birdies, a bogey and a double-bogey.
She then eagled the par-5 11th hole en route to an even-par 71 Thursday, which left her at par for the week, and five strokes ahead of runner-up, and four-time Royale Cup winner, Alison Murdoch of Victoria (74-72-72).
