Riley McLean returned home to Vernon with gold in his suitcase.
McLean, a member of Okanagan Para Swimming who represents the Penticton-based KISU Swim Club, won two gold medals at the recent Para World Series in Indianapolis.
McLean’s first gold came in the 50-metre backstroke, almost breaking his Canadian record in the S4 class with a time of 56.84 seconds.
His other gold came in the 150-m S4 class with a personal best time of three minutes 35.10 seconds.
McLean was selected by Swimming Canada to take part in this training and race camp in Indy.
“This was a great learning opportunity for Riley,” said his coach, Renate Terpstra of Vernon.
McLean and two of his Okanagan Para Swimming teammates will will compete at the 2017 Swim B.C. LC AAA Age Group Championships in Kamloops July 6-9.
His 2016/17 season will end at the Canadian swimming trials Aug. 4-7 in Montreal.
