Okanagan Gymnastics athletes win 15 medals at event in Burnaby

The Okanagan Gymnastics Centre trampoline and tumbling team returned home from Burnaby last weekend with 15 medals in their possession.

The 14-member team, along with coaches Jamie Gardner and Rachel Stone, travelled to the Lower Mainland for their first competition and trials event of the 2017 season.

The national level athletes use the competition as their first trials score to try to make Team B.C. for the Canadian championships, while the provincial level athletes are vying to qualify for he Western Canada Cup.

In the women’s competition, Jordyn Yendley finished with a bronze medal in the Level 6 individual trampoline.

In the level 5 category, the Harris twins won the synchronized trampoline event as a pair.

Vanna Harris also earned a bronze in level 5 individual trampoline, while Janiah Harris finished with a silver medal in level 4 double mini trampoline and a gold medal in level 3 tumbling.

Also in level 5, Jordan Macdonald finished in first place on trampoline and earned second place with her partner, Jaylin Otteson, in synchronized trampoline.

Taya Lawless finished in second place in the level 5 trampoline category.

Ally Wyllie earned a gold medal in the level 3 double mini trampoline.

In the men’s competition, Travis Towers finished in third place in the level 5 individual trampoline.

Brett Judson earned a silver medal in the level 4 individual trampoline, while Max Vandenberg was third.

Ethan Scott finished with three medals, earning silver in level 2 double mini trampoline and bronze medals in Level 3 trampoline and Level 1 tumbling.
