Sundance Taekwon-do of Vernon brought home 10 medals at the International Taekwon-do Federation B.C. Championships in Prince George.
Vernon sent five athletes to a tournament that featured more than 200 competitors.
Kelly Kinniburgh, a third degree black belt, bagged bronze in women’s third degree patterns and gold in black belt heavyweight sparring.
Other black belts in competition included Natalie Bowie, 21, who took a silver in first degree patterns and bronze in women’s lightweight sparring.
Ciara Wilson, 14, in her first meet as a junior black belt took in bronze first degree patterns and bronze in the junior girls lightweight sparring.
In colour belt, Maira Wilson, 11, brought home a bronze in pre-junior red belt patterns and silver in girls sparring.
“This was a great showing by some of our most dedicated members’, we couldn’t be more proud as a school and as a community” said head coach David White, a fifth degree black belt, an international instructor and examiner with the International Taekwon-do Federaion.
White struck silver in fourth degree patterns and a silver in the men’s power breaking category.
“One of the great things about Taekwon-do competition is the emphasis on respect to your opponent and sportsmanship which was definitely on display at this event,” said White who also serves as the vice president of the International Taekwon-do Federation of B.C.
Next for the members of Sundance is the B.C. Cup at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby this October, followed by the Nationals and Team Canada selections in Regina this November.
Sundance has several athletes vying for spots on the Canadian team heading to the Taekwon-do World Championships in Italy next May.
