Medals for Burns Lake at games

There were two athletes from Burns Lake that competed in the summer games this year for the Northwest region.

The 2014 B.C. Summer Games in Nanaimo came to a close this past Sunday, after four days of intense competition that saw over 3200 athletes, coaches and officials from across B.C. compete in 19 sports.

There were two athletes from Burns Lake that competed in the summer games this year for the Northwest region.

Nisa Hofer and Braden Puglas competed in the canoe and kayak events.

Puglas won a silver medal in the Boys C-1 2000m open event and placed sixth in both the Boys Slalom C-1 open event and in the Boys C-1 200m learn to train event.

Hofer won a bronze medal in the Girls C-1 2000m open event and place fifth in the Girls Slalom C-1 open event and seventh in the Girls C-1 200m learn to train event.

Hofer and Puglas also competed in the four team events for the Northwest Region.

In those team events the Northwest region finished eighth in the Boys C-2 500m learn to train event, fourth in the Boys C-2 2000m open event, sixth in the Girls K-4 500m open event and fifth in the Boys and Girls K-4 500m open event.
