MEI’s Josh Carsience signs with Trinity Western University

Grade 12 student will join track and field team at Langley-based school in the fall

MEI’s Josh Carsience is continuing his track and field journey at Langley’s Trinity Western University.

The Grade 12 student revealed his intentions for next fall on social media on May 27.

He will be specializing in heptathlon and decathlon for the Spartans.

Carsience has been excelling at local events from a very young age, The News wrote a story back in 2014 on the then-Grade 6 student Josh “Bolt” Carsience.

He has spent years honing his craft with the Abbotsford-based Valley Royals track and field team and has earned medals at both high school and competitive regional track and field meets over the years.

Carsience has also competed at the BC Summer Games and the Legion Youth National Track and Field Championships. He competed in running events early on in his career, but then became a very successful competitor in the pole vault.

The Spartans compete in the Canada West conference for track and field, and competition usually runs from November to March.
