The 100 Mile House Men’s Fastball League is struggling to get scheduled games completed so far this season.
Rainouts and lack of players has resulted in having to either forfeit or reschedule games. The make-up games will be played at the end of the regular season before the playoffs start.
June 3
Exeter Sporting Goods slipped by Jakes Pub 8-7 in an exciting game that saw both teams have some big offensive innings.
Paul Carey pitched a complete game and recorded six strikeouts for the victory.
Greg Parent also chucked six innings and struck out five batters in a losing effort. However, he helped his cause with a triple and 1 run batted in (RBI).
Jakes jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and added one more in the second.
Exeter got on the scoreboard in the third inning thanks to a double by Chad Paterson who scored on Bryan Moorman single.
Exeter closed the gap to 6-5 in the top of the fifth inning with a four-run outburst, but Jakes took a 7-5 lead in the bottom of the inning.
Exeter brought three more runs across in the top of the sixth for their first lead of the contest at 8-7.
As the home team, Jakes, had last bats in the sixth but were retired in order.
Exeter’s Moorman had two doubles and a single for three RBIs and Cliff McNabb added a double and RBI in the sixth. Jay James made two stellar catches in centre field to snuff out rallies for Exeter.
June 4
The Shuswap Defenders got a come-from-behind 10-8 victory over the Sanford Dillman Hornets in another exciting game.
Jerome Boyce pitch four strong innings for the Defenders with three strikeouts, and he helped his own cause with a double and two RBIs. Kevin Neufeld took over the mound for the last two innings with one strikeout.
Hornets’ Bob Collens went the distance, pitched a strong game and recorded a strikeout but ended up taking the loss.
Shuswap took a 2-0 lead in the first, but the Hornets knotted the score in the second and grabbed a 5-4 lead after three innings.
The Hornets jumped out to an 8-6 lead in the fourth, but the Defenders came back in the fifth for a 10-8 lead and won when the Hornets failed to score in the top of the sixth.
Roy Christopher hit a double for two RBIs in his first game back with Shuswap, and Mark Boyce used his lightning speed to score four runs and recorded a single.
For Exeter, Rob Sanford had a home run and double for three RBIs; Brayden Sanford had a double and a single for two RBIs; Eric Sanford had a double; and Morgan Thomas had a double and a single.
June 6
Exeter slipped by the Hornets with a 13-12 victory with their last bats in the sixth inning.
The Hornets jumped out to an 11-3 lead in the third inning with a nine-run rally, and increased to 12-3 in the fourth.
However, Exeter closed the gap to 12-5 in the fifth and then scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth for the victory.
June 7
The game between the Red Rock Grill Avengers and the Defenders had to be rescheduled due to lack of players.
June 10
Exeter won when the Defenders forfeited due to lack of players.
June 11
The games between the Avengers and Jakes Pub was rained out.
