The tier 4 100 Mile Peewee Rep Milers travelled north after the Christmas break to get in as many practice games as they could. They went off to Williams Lake to play the tier 2 Rep team for a couple of exhibition games on the Jan. 7 and 8 weekend. The team lost both games but managed to sneak a few goals by the Williams Lake goalie.
Kyson Hopson got two with assists from Gibson Fast and Jadyn Monical. Aidan Moore, Jackson Hooper, and Trey Pacheco also potted a goal each. Both 100 Mile House goalies, Kyle Harding and Joey Isaac faced more than 50 shots in the exhibition games.
The next weekend the team was headed to Quesnel to play in their Peewee Rep tier 2 tournament. The team knew going into the tournament it would be some tough competitive hockey. In their first game against Terrace, they lost 10-2. The 100 Mile goals were scored by Hopson and Pacheco who both had speed on their sides to beat the Terrace defence. Game two was against the host city. It was a physical, high penalty, heart racing game. In the end, 100 Mile was defeated 6-4. The Milers played as a team with lots of good passing. The first goal was scored by team captain Hopson with an assist from Shane Sutton. Then Carson Huryn poked one through the goalie’s pads with an assist from Hopson and Martin Stillas. Then Hopson found the back of the net with a heads up pass from teammate Stillas. The Milers fought to end, with the game assistant captain, Aidan Moore sniping one past with assists from Vanessa Betschart and Nolan Duff.
Next, playing a very strong St. John team, Hopson scored the only goal for the team.
In the last game of the tournament, the team was able to get one last goal from Alex Kuyek with a sweet assist from Moore. The team placed eight overall.
MVP’s for best offensive game went to Vanessa Betschart, Kyson Hopson, Trey Pacheco and Cameron Scott.
MVP’s for best defensive game went to Shane Sutton, Kyle Harding, Joey Isaac and Jadyn Monical.
