The Kal Tire Canadians stretched their Midget baseball win streak to four games by doubling the Kelowna Black Sox 4-2 Tuesday night at Marshall Field.

The C’s were ready to break the game wide open with the bases loaded when lightning struck. Catcher Jacob Holland gunned down three Kelowna runners, while Shelby Hartwig, with six strikeouts, and Dylan Emmons, with one K, were marvellous on the mound.

Riley Preston, Tyler Lacktin Doyle, Hartwig and Holland each drove in runs for Kal Tire.

The Canadians swept host Kamloops 8-0 and 12-4 in a doubleheader Sunday.

Back to back RBI-doubles from Kristian Currie and Hartwig broke the opener wide open in the third.

“It was our best game of the season,” said C’s assistant coach Dennis Holland. “We had great at-bats from the bottom of the lineup, and solid pitching from Shelby Hartwig and Brendan Zupp, who combined on a three-hit shutout.”

In the nightcap, Mitchell Lukacs, pitching on little sleep after VSS dry grad celebrations, was solid on the mound in his second start of the year. Lacktin Doyle came in to stop a late Kamloops rally. Currie drove in three runs, while Preston had two RBI.

Brandon Harder smacked a run-scoring double.
