Midget Reps take two at home

By Andy Lewis

This past weekend the Terrace Midget reps hosted Kitimat for two games in the Skeena Valley Minor Hockey league.

The first game was Saturday night just before the River Kings game against Kitimat.

Kitimat was going with a very short bench, and Terrace won easily 6-2. William Orrey and Brandon Stella added two goals each, while Westby and Allison added singles. Kyle Gray was in net.

The second game went at 11:15 a.m. Sunday morning. Kitimat had added a couple more players and as a result the game was more even.

Terrace opened the scoring in the first with a goal from Orrey. Kitimat responded and tied the game.

The teams traded scoring, and in the third Dave Lewis was hauled down from behind on a break away and was awarded with a penalty shot. The shot was stopped by Kitimat’s goalie who had a great game.

Lewis next put Terrace ahead on a nice one timer slap shot top shelf on a pass from Joel Findlay on the power play. Terrace was up 4-3, with less than 2 minutes left in the game, when Kitimat tied the score.

Kitimat rushed the puck and with 10 seconds left in the game Dawson Leblond stopped a shot in the crease on his knees. With seconds left on the clock Austin Braid picked up the puck off the side boards and on a partial break away scored with 1.04 left to record the 5-4 win.

Lewis had two goals and an assist. Cole Broughton got the nod in net for the home side. The team is off to Smithers this coming weekend.
