The Vernon Home Hardware Centre Vipers opened up the Penticton Midget Tier 2 Hockey Tournament with an 8-0 ambush of the Kelowna Rockets Friday night.
Conor Webb earned the shutout.
Dex Elders (2), Carl Main, Kyle Sherwood, Stephane Richard, Connor Johnston, Nick Cherkowski and Brady Marzocco handled the offence.
Vernon, coached by Keith Chase and Eddie Johnstone, met Port Coquitlam and Kamloops Saturday.
