Psalm 23 Transition Society is hosting its second annual Million Dollar Charity Hole-In-One Contest at Valley Golf Centre.

Psalm 23 Transition Society is hosting its second annual Million Dollar Charity Hole-In-One Contest at Valley Golf Centre, beginning this week.

Proceeds from the event will go to support Psalm 23, a local residential drug and alcohol addiction recovery program.

Daily qualifying rounds are Sept. 7-15 between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Quarter-finals, semifinals and finals are Sept. 16, starting at 1 p.m.

In the qualifying rounds, participants can pay $10 for 12 balls, $20 for 30 balls, or $50 for 100 balls, and then shoot at a pin 95 yards away. At the end of each day, the seven closest to the pin qualify for the quarter-final, and also share in the daily prizes. In addition, three random qualifiers will be drawn from the day’s participants.

Special daily promotions include Youth Day for golfers 17 and under (Sept. 17), Ladies’ Day (Sept. 10) and Seniors’ Day (Sept. 12). The Business Challenge Cup, which features teams of three competing for prizes and a shot at the quarter-final, runs Sept. 13-14.

Quarter-finalists will get three shots at a pin 140 yards away, and a hole-in-one nets a prize of $10,000.

The 10 closest to the pin move on to the semis, where they will have one shot at a pin 150 yards away to win $100,000.

The top three move on to the final, where they will get a single attempt to sink a hole-in-one for $1 million.

Psalm 23 executive director Marvin Declare said he’s counting on a good turnout for the entire event this year.

“It’s a lot of fun and it’s nice when the community comes out,” said Declare, who will be the focus of a daily ‘Beat the Boss’ contest where golfers will try to beat his best effort in the closest-to-the-pin contest.
