Minor hockey teams make B.C.s; fundraising begins

Three Port Alberni rep hockey teams have made it to their respective provincial championships later this month.

Three Port Alberni rep hockey teams have made it to their respective provincial championships later this month.

A fundraiser has been set up for this Friday, March 7 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Alberni Cap-It, in the Alberni Toyota complex. The teams are holding a joint bottle drive, hot dog sale, car wash and bake sale.

Bottles can be dropped off at Alberni Cap-It on Friday.

The Bantam A Bulldogs travelled to Oak Bay last Saturday to play their second playoff game, which they won 10-2. Alberni scoring was led by Connor Sabiston, who posted a hat trick.

Seven other Bulldogs players contributed to the offensive effort as well, team manager Stefanie Weber said.

The Bantam As head to West Kelowna March 16–21 for the Tier 3 finals.

The Bantam B Bulldogs have a bye into the Tier 4 provincial championship in Windermere later this month.

The Midget As earned their provincial berth last weekend with a pair of home-and-home 6-2 victories over Sooke.

Alberni Valley News
