Conditions were perfect Friday at Ledgeview Golf Course as British Columbia’s best young golfers teed off in the first round of the golf event at the 2016 BC Summer Games.

With the first sets of golfers wrapping up for the day.

Kyle Claggett of Mission leads the field after shooting a sparkling round of 71 (+1) at the Abbotsford course, which often plays host to the Lower Mainland’s best golfers.

Claggett recorded four birdies, including on the 17th and 18th holes to finish the day ahead of his closest competitors. Zach Ryujin of North Vancouver and Devin Cutforth of Mission are second and third after rounds of 74 and 75 respectively

The girls event saw Grace Killins posting the best early score, recording 82 on the difficult course. She’s followed by Alyssa Chang, who shot 83, and Jessica Wu, who shot 85.

Several groups remain out on the course and their scores have not yet been recorded.

The golfers will play a second round at the course Saturday.
