Overtime has been an early season problem for Mission

Overtime seems to be an early season issue for the Mission City Outlaws.

For the second straight week, the Outlaws fell in overtime at home ice. This Saturday saw the Aldergrove Kodiaks leave the Mission Leisure Centre with a 4-3 overtime win.

The first period saw the majority of the scoring, as the teams traded five goals in the opening 20 minutes and the Outlaws held a 3-2 lead.

Kyle Mooney (two) and Lucas Anseimo tallied for Mission in the first, but the Kodiaks managed to tie the game in the second and nothing was solved in the third to send the teams to overtime.

Aldergrove earned the win just seven seconds into the extra frame.

Defender Sean Sidhu and Mooney both had two-point nights, while goalie Matthew Trulsen made 37 saves in the loss.

Mission also scored a big 7-1 win over the Surrey Knights on the road on Thursday.

The Outlaws scored six unanswered goals in the first two periods, before Surrey tallied on the power play. The Outlaws added another goal late to make it a 7-1 final.

Mission displayed balanced scoring, with seven different players lighting the lamp. Mooney, Justin Hargrave, Chase Newman, Travis Trottier, Tristin Takats, Liam Robinson and Tristyn Olson each recorded goals. Mooney, Robinson and Olson all had impressive three-point games.

Outlaws goalie Isaac Ellis, who was making his Pacific Junior Hockey League debut, earned his first-ever win in the league and made 25 saves.
