Mission Racers Speed Skating Club members enjoy some fresh air and fun

Mission Racers Speed Skating Club normally practises at Mission Leisure Centre’s north rink on Tuesdays and Thursdays from September to March.

However, in December, club members decided to do something a little different. Skaters and coaches decided to go outside and enjoy some of Mission’s recent winter weather.

After shovelling the snow out of the way, skaters created a track on Mill Pond and members of the team came out for a fun, impromptu practice.

About the club:

Skaters start as young as four and can learn to skate on speed skates. Skaters can compete in meets hosted by each of the clubs in the Fraser Valley where they race against other skaters.

They are coached by Bruce Wenting and the club is affiliated with BC Speed Skating. Skates are provided and the club offers a free trial session for kids who are interested in signing up.
