The season is over for the Mission Roadrunners senior varsity football team after falling 48-0 to the St. Thomas More Collegiate Knights on Friday.

The Knights opened up a 21-0 lead at the half, despite having three touchdowns called back for penalties in the first half.

The Roadrunners failed to take advantage of the Knights’ many penalties, which hurt STMC more than Mission’s offence did.

Mission allowed 243 yards rushing and 170 yards passing in the loss.

The setback ends the Roadrunners’ first-ever season in AAA competition, and they finished with a record of one win and six losses.

They finished in seventh place in the AAA’s eastern conference.

The season is also over for the Roadrunners’ junior varsity team, but they ended off on a high note with a big 40-0 win over Centennial on Oct. 26.

The junior varsity team finished with a record of one win and four losses, and placed fifth in the central hybrid division.
