Mixed open in Parksville

The Quality Foods Parksville Open mixed pairs tournament took place this past weekend, with 32 teams from all over Vancouver Island.

The Quality Foods Parksville Open mixed pairs tournament took place this past weekend, with 32 teams from all over Vancouver Island playing it out under the sunshine and high temperatures at the Parksville Lawn Bowling Club.

The team of team of April Gilchrist and Vern Greenhill, of Courtenay, took the “A” division, edging out Parksville’s Rick Dolley and Cheryl Baker for first place prizes and their names on the club trophy.

In the “B” division, it was Vern Hagstrom and June Meaning of Nanaimo beating out fellow Nanaimo club members Rick Quibell and Mary Mulligan. The “C” division went to the team of Pat Cutt and Michael Lynch over Qualicum’s Mick Banks and Lynn Chwartacki. Parksville’s Carol and Ken Bucyk took first in the “D” division over Nanaimo’s Cheryl Holland and Larry Williams.

This weekend, July 4-5, will see the Parksville Club Mixed Pairs tournament and the Open Tenderfoot Triples will take place July 11.
