Forty-four teams teed it up for the 27th annual mixed two ball tournament held this the weekend. By all reports everyone had a great time.
Congratulations go out to the team of Shellie Stouffer and Jason Gilbert from Fairwinds, who not only won the tournament with a two day score of 133, but on Saturday they shot a remarkable 63 gross. In the 27 year history of this tournament that is probably the best one day score ever recorded.
Second low gross from Alberni with a two day total of 147 was Janis Cross and Keith Gauthier. Third low gross from Alberni was Suzanne Jones and Lloyd Fairley shooting 150. Fourth low gross from Glacier Greens was the team of Liz Stirrett and David Wacowich carding 161. Fifth low gross from Mt. Brenton was the twosome of Dar and Rick Mitchell, with a two day score of 163.
Also with a total gross 163 from Alberni was the team of Kathy and Fred Fredrickson.
On the net side the winner with a two day total of 124 was Barb Sheare and Brian Tall from Alberni. There was a four-way tie with a low net of 126.
Listed by from first to last were Cindy and Dave Brar from Cordova Bay, Jim and Gayle Rhodes from Alberni, Linda Christian and Den Nicklin of Alberni. Brad and Lynne Unger of Gold River. Next up for the Men’s Club will be the Van Isle Ford Scramble to be held this Sunday, Aug. 14. This will have four-man computer picked teams. The scramble will be on a altered course, which is always interesting.
The entry fee will be $15 per player. Please register in the Pro Shop no later than 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13. There will be a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
One final note, on Friday, Aug. 5 Jerry Swaney used his trusty seven wood to ace No. 17, Congratulation Jerry, way to go.
