The Midget AAA Mid-Island Mustangs put in a valiant effort despite Sunday’s wet weather, however the team was not able to pull off a win during their double header against the Ridge Meadows Royals at Dogwood Ball Field.
“They had a good game, they just couldn’t string enough hits together to score,” said assistant coach Kip Armstrong.
The final score for Game 1 was 3-1, and 14-3 for Game 2.
Armstrong said there was good pitching from both of the Mustang’s starting pitchers and solid defense. Devon Geary scored a solid hit in the fourth inning during Game 2, which allowed the Mustangs to chalk up three runs on the scoreboard.
“We knew they were going to be tough games,” Armstrong said.
During their double header against Mid Valley Saturday, the Mustangs came out on top with final scores of 4-2 in Game 1 and 7-3 in Game 2.
The Mustangs will get to rest over the long weekend and prepare to take on White Rock May 28.
Armstrong said the team is looking forward to picking up some wins as summer approaches.
