The Ridge Meadows Moose finished second at the B.C. juvenile A championships, held at Planet Ice in Maple Ridge over the weekend.
The Moose went 4-1 in advancing to the final, but fell 8-3 to North Vancouver in the final Sunday before about 500 spectators, including former or current players with the association, many wearing Ridge team jerseys and jackets.
“Last night the rink staff told our manager that they have never seen that many people in the Cam Neely Arena for a hockey game,” said Moose assistant coach Derek Bedard.
“It was a great week. Even though we wanted the gold, second best in the province is a huge achievement.”
The Moose opened the provincials Thursday with a 6-2 win over Langley.
Ridge then downed Vancouver 4-2, but lost 4-3 to North Delta.
The Moose rebounded with a 12-2 win over Juan de Fuca to advance to the championship game.
