W.J. Mouat Secondary is set to be transformed into an obstacle course on May 11.
The first-ever Mouat Mudder will feature eight challenging obstacles where teams of five compete and complete the course.
The event, which is being organized by Mouat PE Leadership students, is open to Mouat staff and students, and the school has challenged both the Abbotsford Police Department and Abbotsford Fire Rescue Services to put in teams to battle it out.
Registration for the event is $50 per team, with all proceeds going to the Abbotsford Fire Department Burn Fund. The top junior, senior and community teams will all receive prizes.
“Team work, team building, physical health and school culture are being developed and encouraged in this event,” said Mouat’s Mike Perry. “We are looking to make this an annual event.”
Perry said next year it’s likely that the event will be open to more members of the public, but he stated that anyone can come check out the event. It occurs on Mouat’s grass field and public parts of the Matsqui Recreation Centre grounds and the skateboard park complex.
