With ski season fast approaching, the Mount Washington Ski Club athletes are already in training and waiting for snow as they prepare to celebrate their 35th year in the Valley.
“It is important to note that program fees make up only 40 per cent of the club’s operation budget,” a MWSC spokesperson said. “The remainder of the funds to run the program come from our sponsorship and fundraising programs.”
One of those fundraisers are bottle drives, and the club is holding the second of three this Saturday, Oct. 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Courtenay area.
“Please help us start our 35th year off in style,” a MWSC spokesperson said. Ski club athletes will be canvassing neighbourhoods throughout Courtenay collecting bottles to raise funds for coaching, travel and overall club operations.
“Please leave your bottles and cans curbside with a note for us as early at 8 a.m. this Saturday. Thank you to all for your support and thank you to our sponsors– let it snow!”
