Mount Washington Ski Club sending 11 athletes to BC Winter Games

Zone 6 (Vancouver Island) will be well represented in alpine skiing at the Penticton 2016 BC Winter Games.

On Wednesday, the Mount Washington Ski Club will be sending 11 athletes off to the Feb.  25-28 Games.  Competing for the Zone on the Mount Washington team for the women are Anja Leikermoser, Shelby Nilsen and Emilly Johnston of Comox, Brooke Taylor of Victoria and Isabella Cross of Port Alberni. On the men’s team we have Ian Leighton and Eric Ashton of Comox/Courtenay, Luke Hoefer of Nanaimo, Trent Perras of Campbell River, Griffin Hart and Luka Djurickovic of Victoria.

The BC Winter Games allows these athletes to compete with others from across the province who are at the highest level of their discipline. The alpine team will be competing in slalom and giant slalom at nearby Apex Mountain Resort.

Hosting over 2,500 athletes, Penticton will be brimming with youthful energy as athletes walk in opening ceremonies, dance the night away at a rock concert and celebrate the spirit of camaraderie and competition at the closing ceremonies before they all head home.
