It was a test of speed and endurance for mountain bike races as they competed in the eighth annual Test of Humanity race in Summerland on Sept. 16.
The race was a fundraiser to support Canadian Humanitarian’s projects in Ethiopia.
This year, the event raised almost $45,000, bringing the total to more than $380,000 over the eight years the race has been held.
The winner of the elite male 16-39 four-hour event race was Cory Wallace, a world champion mountain biker in the 24-hour event. Wallace raced eight laps of the 10-kilometre course within the time limit. His average speed was 19.58 km/h.
Eric Ouellette finished in second place in the category, with six laps and an average speed of 17.04 km/h.
In the elite male 40+ category, Richard English finished first, completing six laps at an average speed of 16.61 km/h, while Michael Johnston was second, covering the same distance but with an average speed of 16.53 km/h.
Sonya Looney was the winner in the elite female 16-39 division.
