Mission secondary has the chance to earn a berth to the Fraser Valley finals Thursday afternoon.
The local AA senior boys basketball team has been maintaining a dominant position on top of the heap pretty much all season, said co-coach Danny Jakobs.
A convincing 86-57 win over Pacific Academy last week cemented the team’s position.
“They’re a good team, but I think we’re a better team,” said Jakobs about Archbishop Carney, who they face at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Port Coquitlam school.
The provincials happen March 7-10 in Kamloops, and the coach believes the team has what it takes to continue its winning ways.
“We’re bigger and we’re comfortable scoring from the inside. The toughness some of our players developed playing football helps too,” he said.
The Roadrunners currently sit with a 22-5 overall record for the season.
