Muller paces Golden Ears Athletics at nationals

Earns bronze medals in 1,500m and 800m events at McLeod park in Langley.

Reid Muller of Golden Ears Athletics won two bronze medals at the National Legion Youth Track and Field Championship this past weekend at McLeod Athletic Park in Langley.

Muller came third in the 1,500-metre event with a time of 3:55.43. He also came third in the 800m, setting a person best time of 1:52.51.

Muller was one of 12 athletes from the local track club at the national event.

Erick Villanueva placed fifth in long jump, with a distance of 5.99m. He also came eighth in the 100m (11.81 seconds). Bryce Mackenzie came sixth in high jump (1.70m). Sara Hoffman finished seventh in long jump (5.00m). Chisom Obioha placed 10th in long jump (4.87m). A Golden Ears Athletics team came sixth (4:21.21) in the four-by-400m women’s relay, while another finished seventh (48 seconds) in the four-by-100m men’s relay.

Other club members who competed at the national championships: Mikaela Smart (1,500m); Madelyn Huston (800m); Christina Johnstone (800m); Zack Kuzyk (high jump); Darian Smerdal (high jump), Alex Ross (2,000m); and Jayden Brown (300m).
