Myrden team wins South Island Club Challenge

Diane Myrden’s Lake Cowichan rink will be competing at the Travelers BC Club Challenge and Pacific International Cup next month after winning the Travelers Island South Club Challenge at Cowichan Rocks on March 10-12.

Myrden’s team, including third Kari McKinlay, second Lynn Post and lead Dana Neuffer won the ladies competition, while the men’s bracket was won by the Nanaimo foursome of Bart Sawyer, third Steve Waatainen, second Keith Clarke and lead Craig Burton.

The event included a round-robin portion in which teams were awarded two points for a win, one for a tie and none for a loss.

The top two teams after the round robin advanced to the finals on March 12.

Clubs from Curl BC region eight and part of region nine were invited, but the only clubs to take part were Cowichan Rocks, Duncan, Kerry Park, Nanaimo and Victoria.

The BC Club Challenge and Pacific International Cup will be contested at the Richmond Curling Centre on April 19-23.
