Nanaimo Clippers extend streak to 10 before losing

BCHL Clippers defeated Trail, but lost to Penticton and Salmon Arm on road trip

The Nanaimo Clippers were able to extend their winning streak into double digits before losing.

The Clippers won one out of three games on a road trip this past weekend, getting past the Trail Smoke Eaters 4-3 in overtime Friday, falling 4-1 to the Penticton Vees and then getting doubled up 6-3 by the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Sunday.

The trip started off the right way as Ethan Scardina completed his hat trick with an overtime game-winning goal. Marcus Mitchell also scored and Sammy Steele had two assists. Jordan Naylor made 27 saves for the win.

The next day it was MacKenzie Merriman with the only goal for Nanaimo. Naylor made 36 saves.

In the finale, Tyler Williams, Steele and Scardina scored and Landon Pavlisin made 34 stops.

GAME ON … The Clippers visit the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Friday, Jan. 18, then host the Silverbacks on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena.
