Nanaimo Clippers lose all three on road trip

Nanaimo lost to Coquitlam, Wenatchee and Surrey this past weekend in BCHL action

The Nanaimo Clippers weren’t able to right the ship on a road trip.

The city’s B.C. Hockey League team lost all three of its games this past weekend and has now dropped seven straight games.

The Clippers were doubled up 6-3 by the Coquitlam Express on Friday, got blown out 10-3 by the Wenatchee Wild on Saturday and then got shut out 1-0 by the Surrey Eagles on Sunday.

In the first game of the trip, Cal Babych, Parker Colley and Brad Belisle scored goals and Noah Featherstonhaugh Gowe made 15 saves as his team outshot the opposition 36-21.

The next night, it was Jeremy Gervais, Maxwell Crozier and Preston Brodziak with the goals. Affiliate goalie Jordan Naylor made 15 saves in the loss as shots were 37-29.

In the weekend finale, Nanaimo outshot Surrey 48-28 but couldn’t light the lamp. Featherstonhaugh Gowe tended goal.

GAME ON … The Clippers visit the Victoria Grizzlies on Friday, Jan. 26, and then the Powell River Kings on Saturday. Next home action is Jan. 31 against the Grizzlies.
