As the Nanaimo Clippers head off on the road this week, they’re pretty happy to be bringing a two-game win streak with them.
The Clips play the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Friday (Jan. 27), the Vernon Vipers on Saturday and then the Surrey Eagles on Sunday in B.C. Hockey League action.
Nanaimo swept the Alberni Valley Bulldogs last weekend in meaningful divisional games.
“I think we come into [the road trip] with some confidence, but I think we realize that it’s not going to be easy, either…” said Jamie Collins, Clippers forward, adding that the team will still be playing desperate hockey. “We still have to look at it as three tough games, especially on the road. I think we’ll be prepared.”
Jake Harris, Clippers forward, said by this point in the season, his team knows how to approach a road trip and said it’s about being focused on the task at hand.
“We feel like we can sweep the weekend, that’s our goal, but we’re worried about the first period in Salmon Arm, not about the third period in Surrey,” Harris said.
Tonight’s game against the Silverbacks sees Clippers forward Josh Blanchard face his former team.
Next home action for the Clippers is Feb. 3 when the Penticton Vees visit Frank Crane Arena.
