It’s going to be a busy summer for a lot of young field lacrosse players, including Nanoose Bay’s Quinten Donaldson, who has been named to the Boys Varsity Elite team.

According to a recent press release from William Howard of Burnaby Mountain Selects Lacrosse, leading up to the summer recruiting season, Brent Hoskins, head coach of the men’s lacrosse team at Simon Fraser University and one of the founders of the Burnaby Mountain Lacrosse Elite Developoment Program, has formally announced the 2013 summer rosters for the BMS elite touring teams.

Entering their thirteenth season and about to embark on the programs 54th international trip, the Selects are widely recognized as one of Canada’s top field lacrosse development programs, combining excellence on the field, with the importance of academic achievement. The Selects were established in 2006 using the same template as a university lacrosse program, designed to train players in a high performance environment to best prepare them for a collegiate field lacrosse career.

Burnaby Mountain will field four travel teams this summer: Boy’s Varsity Elite (Grad 2014, 2015 / Post Grad 2013), Boy’s Sophomore Elite (Grad 2016), Boy’s Freshmen Elite (Grad 2017), and Boy’s U13 Elite (Grad 2018, 2019).

In total, eighty-one student-athletes from twenty-four different communities throughout British Columbia, in addition to five cities across Washington State, will represent the Selects at top tournaments in Colorado, Indiana and Maryland. Each team will attend an international recruiting event, while also receiving organized tours of NCAA college campuses and enjoying additional city sites and attractions.

Hoskins is hands-on as head coach of all four boy’s elite teams, and will once again be joined by SFU assistant coaches Chris Fox and Chris Tessarolo, in addition to current college standouts Blake Duncan and Alex Thomson, “who round out a BMS Coaching Staff focused on providing in-depth instruction at all positions.”
